Google has acquired GrandCentral.
The integration provides several options for Google which will allow
them to offer Google Talk as a VoIP service that would integrate with the free GrandCentral
phone service. GrandCentral offers a "one phone number for life" service. The free
service enables users to control all aspects of their phone service. They can get a free
phone number in most any area code across the US and link that number to a large number of
phones. They can choose what phone call to receive and automatically direct calls based
upon a wide variety of tools.
In 2008, the ability to sign up for the Free service has extremely been limited. In the past,
existing members were allowed to invite other members. That feature has been terminated.
Now the only way to get service is to reserve a number on the
Grandcentral website.

RingBranch is a similar service to GrandCentral. You
are able to get a free local number that you can forward phone calls to. However unlike
GrandCentral, Ringbranch places ads prior to and during phone calls that connect
through your Ringbranch number. This is a free service. However, we are aware of
poor reviews of this service due to the unexpected ads during a call. Some calls
both parties to the call hear the ads.

We suggest you reserve a
GrandCentral number and try out
Ringbranch while you are
waiting for your GrandCentral invite.
